CRI90 LED downlight with a lot of light output and dimmable. Aluminum-framed and reasonably low general light with a height of 38 mm. The quality of light matters

The Color Rendering Index (CRI) is a measure of how well colors appear when using a light source compared to sunlight. The index is measured on a scale of 0 to 100. A perfect 100 indicates that colors under the light source appear the same as they would under natural sunlight.

A high CRI value is especially important at home, in photography, in stores, grocery stores, restaurants and other spaces where you want colors to look natural and rich. A well-lit space is pleasant to be in. Well-being increases. High light quality is a bit like a fast internet connection. Once you get used to it, you won’t want to change to a worse one.

Testing the CRI value requires a special light tester. We have such a device. The color rendering index (CRI) of this LED downlight is over 90, which means that the light quality is excellent.

Dimmable LED downlight

Ledtek LED downlights are dimmable. This luminaire comes with a triac dimmable small transformer and can be dimmed with a dimmer. The luminaire is intended to operate with the transformer provided and only with it. We do not recommend that you buy one high-power transformer and connect all the luminaires to it. This will usually not work.

For dimming, you need the right kind of dimmer (LED dimmer), i.e. the dimming signal comes from the front of the transformer. You can dim the lights between 10% and 100% . The transformer of the lamp does not buzz or whine when dimming, and the light does not flicker. A correctly selected dimmer also does not make any noise. Good dimmers can be found, for example, from ABB and Schneider.

What do you need for installation?

In addition to LED downlights, you do not necessarily need anything other than a certified electrician. These LED lamps can be used without a dimmer with a regular on/off light switch. If the project is being renovated, check that the ceiling has MMJ wiring ready for AC230V lamps. If it is a new project, the correct wiring will be made there and you can choose either a dimmer or switches as the light control. There are many options for light control frames from white to matte black. Safety distances of at least 25 mm to the sides and on top of the lamp, so that the lamp has room to cool.

Safety

The most important part in terms of safety is the safe LED transformer and this luminaire has it. The LED transformer of this downlight is CE approved and passes the required safety standards. The transformer has a strain relief cover that clamps the installation cable.

What if it breaks?

The lamp and transformer are replaceable . You can’t replace the LEDs inside the lamp. Or of course you can, but it’s not very convenient. There is a quick connector between the lamp and the transformer, so it’s easy to replace the other one. Since 2009, there have been very few failures in the LED downlight itself. Sometimes there has been some flickering and replacing the lamp helped. If the lamp doesn’t light up at all, the reason is usually in the transformer and replacing the transformer helps. Easy job.
